As Hurricane Irma continues to batter parts of the southern coast despite being downgraded to a tropical storm, celebrities are uniting in an effort to raise money for her predecessor’, Hurricane Harvey’s, victims.
Hand in Hand is a star-studded relief telethon which now includes appearances by Justin Timberlake and Leonardo DiCaprio. Other celebrities slated for the fundraiser include Beyonce, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Justin Bieber, Drake and the Dave Matthews Band.
It is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast across all major TV networks. I
It was initiated by Houston’s own Bun B and musical manager Scooter Braun.
The fundraiser will no longer focus solely on the effects of Hurricane Harvey, but also on those affected by the most recent storm, Irma herself.
Celebrities will manage phones and take call-in donations as well as giving various performances throughout the night. The show will be broadcast from Los Angeles, Nashville and NYC.
According to TMZ, “Michael Dell and Verizon are underwriting the entire event so 100% of the money will go to help the hurricane victims. What’s more, Dell will match the first $10 million. Apple is donating $5 mil.”
