Demi Lovato has had a particularly busy weekend.
On Saturday, she sang the National Anthem before the highly-anticipated Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing showdown in Las Vegas; her performance led some Twitter users to declare her the victor of the fight instead of Mayweather.
And on Sunday she rocked a sapphire-colored leotard with black, peekaboo chaps, at MTV’s Video Music Awards for her performance of “Sorry, Not Sorry.
Then, on Monday, she posted on Instagram an all-smiles picture of her in a martial-arts robe announcing that she had just earned a blue belt in Brazilian Jie Jitsu. She wrote: “so beyond excited because I just received my blue belt in #brazilianjiujitsu!!”
She said that she had fallen in love with the sport “over a year ago” and that she has “been training several times a week ever since.”
She also thanked her coaches, David Dunn, Harlan Berk, and Tarsis Humphreys for helping her with her accomplishment. She also gave a significant shout out to Danielle Martin, her friend and mentor, calling her “one for the most important and special women in my life today.”
It seems clear that she was channeling the power of the blue belt in her VMA outfit; “The night before becoming a blue belt, Demi showcased her martial arts mastered figure in a cheeky cobalt bodysuit that looked straight from Mortal Kombat,” according to the Daily Mail.
Her new album, “Tell Me You Love Me,” is set for release on September 29th.
