Star basketball player Lamar Odom has had a rough couple of years. He married Khloe Kardashian in 2009 after dating her for only a month, becoming a recognizable figure and household name after he became a featured face on the Kardashian family’s reality TV show. He and Khloe also received their own spinoff, Khloe & Lamar. That’s not the rough part, however, though Odom did reportedly feel worn down after starting on the second show in addition to his sports commitments and music/film production work for his company Rich Soil Entertainment. The spinoff only lasted two years.
In 2013, he was arrested for driving under the influence and it was revealed that he had been abusing drugs as well as alcohol. Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013 but withdrew the request for divorce when Odom was discovered unconscious at a brothel in Nevada and she went to be with him at the hospital. Odom went into a coma and was placed on life support, having suffered a stroke and kidney failure; Kardashian postponed divorce so that she could help Odom make medical decisions and be present during his treatment and recovery as his next-of-kin.
Odom left the hospital in January of 2016, nearly 5 months after being admitted. The divorce was finalized in May of 2016. At that time, Odom had stated that he wanted to win Kardashian back.
Now, however, he seems to have changed his tune. In an interview with Wendy Williams, which aired on Wednesday, he stated bluntly that he was no longer looking to get back together with Kardashian, saying that it would be best for both of them to keep their distance.
Kardashian is now dating NBA player Tristan Thompson and Odom told Williams: “They seem happy together.” He also revealed that his relationship with the rest of the Kardashian family, including younger brother Rob who was used to be close with, has waned in the wake of his problems and the rift between he and Khloe; “I would have a problem with me too…I mean if she was my sister,” he stated.
