A 23-year-old man will, deservingly, spend the rest of his life behind bars.
According to Daily Mail, Steven Durdek Jr. of Manchester, Conn. broke into the home of his 56-year-old neighbor, Sarah Kelloway, through an unlocked window. He then proceeded to rape her, kill her and burn parts of her body.
As if the situation could not get any worse, Durdek later uploaded pictures of Kelloway’s naked body to Facebook, bragging about what he had done. In the photos, Kelloway was lying in a similar position to how she was found by officers.
Durdek, who has a long history with crime, was found guilty of murder, felony murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree sexual assault, first-degree arson and tampering with evidence. He will serve his jail time consecutively rather than concurrently, making his total sentence 115 years.
During his sentencing, Durdek maintained his innocence.
“These things aren’t true,” he said.
However, his DNA found was on the doorknob in Kelloway’s home, proving that he committed the despicable crimes.
Durdek deserves every bit of the 115-year sentence he received. Hopefully, Kelloway’s family was able to find even an ounce of peace, knowing that this man will live the rest of his life in jail.
