There is an ongoing investigation into a New York City explosion, which left 29 people injured.
On Saturday night, an explosion went off in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue. Investigators believe the device exploded in or around a dumpster. Police later found a second suspicious device nearby.
One person out of the 29 was left critically injured.
According to CNN, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio stated that the explosion was definitely “an intentional act.”
Of course, many are fearful that this could have been the work of a terrorist group. However, Mayor de Blasio told reporters that “there’s no specific and credible threat against New York City at this time from any terror organization.”
While the motives of the attacker is still unknown, Governor Andrew Cuomo did consider the incident to be terrorism.
“A bomb exploding in New York is obviously an act of terrorism,” Governor Cuomo said.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this explosion. Hopefully, the person or people behind this attack are swiftly brought to justice.
