A woman could be the face of a $20 dollar bill pretty soon.
The non-profit organization “Women On 20’s” is pushing hard to have one of four women from history to be the face of the dollar bill. They have narrowed it down to four candidates: Eleanor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Wilma Mankiller. The public can now vote for one of these women now.
“In the past 48 hours since the final round started, we’ve had 60,000 people cast votes already,” says the group’s executive director, Susan Ades Stone “Though all these women and many more deserve to be honored, the winner will be a symbol of what we hope are greater things to come.”
The group is hoping have the bill approved by the year 2020, which marks the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment that granted women the right to vote.
