John Heard is most recognizable as the father to resilient and ingenuitive Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone movies. He is also recognizable in Big and Beaches, Miami Vice and was once nominated for a Best Guest Actor Emmy on The Sopranos.

Heard, 72, was found dead on a hotel room in California Saturday morning where he had been recovering from a back surgery.

Heard was boring in Washington, D.C. and got his start acting off-Broadway.

The Santa Clara Medical Examiner confirmed his death.
