The Air Algerie Flight 5017 lost radar contact approximately 50 minutes after takeoff Thursday morning. The flight in which was supposed to land at Algiers’ Houari Boumediene Airport four hours later never made it.
There seems to be conflicting reports on exactly how many passengers were actually on board. As of now the French officials are saying at least, 116 passengers were on that flight.
The search is on to locate the missing plane and to find out what may of caused the disappearance.
Although it doesn’t appear to be a related incident, it’s worth noting that Flight 5017’s disappearance comes just a week after a Malaysian Airlines plane was brought down in Ukraine.
