The family of the late Anthony Mason wants to do a public candlelight memorial.

“I’d like to put something together,” said Anthony Mason Jr., the former St. John’s star and the official Mason family spokesperson. He said that a wake will be held Thursday and the funeral on Friday, but those are only for friends and family of the bruising power forward.

Anthony Mason Sr. died of a massive heart attack on Saturday. Mason played with the Knicks from 1991-96 and was a key player on the 1994 club that reached the NBA Finals.

Mason Jr. also added that in his father’s final days he was surrounded by the people who were most important to him: his mother, three sons and daughter.

With them at his side, Mason was very happy before he left. Rest in Peace Mr. Mason.
