One person is claimed to be dead, three adults unaccounted for and five hospitalized after a natural gas explosion occurred at a school in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.
The explosion ripped Minnehaha’s Upper school in half, and Kare 11 has reported one person dead, but this is being disputed by the local fire department.
They reported on Twitter that “1 fatality reported and at least persons trapped beneath collapse reported. Crews extinguishing fire, searching for victims and extricating”. However, they quickly took back the report of the fatality saying “Fatality not confirmed”.
Children were on the field at the time, but they have all been accounted for, according to officials at the school.
However, three adults have been unaccounted for, reports Kare 11. Authorities said that part of the building collapsed during the explosion.
“City first responders are fully engaged. Will share more information as soon as it becomes available and confirmed,” tweeted mayor Betsy Hodges.
