Ever since the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) nominations came out, the celebrity drama has just been climbing in intensity.
Twitter has been the center of most of it, with the largest fight being between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.
Well, fight might not be the appropriate term. Minaj was venting her frustration with her lack of VMA nominations, especially considering that her video for “Anaconda” broke the VEVO record before Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video came out (yet only the latter video got a nomination for Video of the Year).
In her tweets, Minaj never explicitly mentioned Swift, but she referenced a “video [celebrating] women with very slim bodies” and commented that when ““other” girls drop a video that breaks records…they get that nomination.”
However, we don’t think that Minaj was attacking Swift, instead, we think that the rapper was frustrated with the system that Swift represents.
The “Style” singer, on the other hand, didn’t quite recognize this, and responded to Nicki’s tweets saying, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other.”
While Twitter was blowing up during this clash, however, Bruno Mars decided to lighten the mood…by attacking Ed Sheeran.
Don’t worry, it was all a joke, and Sheeran was more than happy to play along.
The “Uptown Funk” singer first tweeted, “Yo I want in on this twitter Beef!! VMAs is the new WWF!! @edsheeran F**k You!”
Fans started making fake wrestling posters pitting Sheeran and Mars against each other, loving the opportunity to turn away from the biting words of Swift and Minaj.
Sheeran quickly replied with, “any way we do dis you gon’ come up short,” taking a lighthearted swipe at Mars’ height (or lack thereof).
The next response was probably our favorite, though. Mars tweeted, “That Cut deep..U always know how to sheer me to the core. I can’t believe we’re Sheeran this in public. How dare u!”
We love a good pun! Plus, the tweet confirmed that Mars was clearly parodying Swift and Minaj, as their disagreement was happening very publically as well.
To be honest, we were just grateful for the comic relief! What did you think about Mars and Sheeran’s fake Twitter fight?
