Rapper and producer, Busta Rhymes, was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly throwing a protein drink at a Steel Gym employee’s head in New York City, Wednesday night.
Thursday morning, Rhymes was released and ordered in court on Nov. 6.
The victims head was cut by the cardboard bottle but denied medical assistance, according to NBC News 4 Reports.
On Tuesday, Rhymes exchanged several words with the employee about bringing a cameraman into Steel Gym to record the rappers workout session. The employee then denied the videographer access back inside the gym, according to witnesses.
The next day, Wednesday, Rhymes and the employee continued to go back-and-forth while the rapper had just purchased a protein drink.
Immediately, Rhymes threw water at the employee, who responded by splashing water back at the rapper. Things rapidly spiraled out of control to where Rhymes allegedly threw his protein drink at the employee. Eventually, police arrived on the scene and charged Rhymes with second-degree assault.
“It’s ridiculous; it was literally a bottle of Muscle Milk. This is clearly an attempt by someone to take advantage of Busta,” said Scott Leemon, Busta Rhymes lawyer, told the New York Daily News. “He did nothing wrong. This is a bunch of bull.”
After being released, Rhymes posted an Instagram photo making his fans aware of him being released and stated, “Thanks to everyone who helped expedite this evening for me. I’m good and we’re back to the grind. Heading 2 the studio 2 turn the bullshit into GREATNESS. I’m super good.”
