How far would you go to defend your pets?
Some would say that Carl Moore took a downright insane risk when a 300-pound bear tried to attack his dogs, but he feels it was worth it.
His cousin, John Sargent, was visiting Moore when the bear approached his home in Meadow Vista, California, apparently determined to climb over the gate in his doorway and get to his Chihuahua and 15-year-old Labrador.
“She was terrified,” he told CBS, holding his tiny Chihuahua in one arm. “She’s still shaking.”
Moore chased the bear down the walkway, at which point the animal turned around and stood on his hind legs, feeling threatened.
“[The bear] spins around, gets up on his haunches…Carl just blasted him. Crazy,” Sargent recalled.
Yes, really…73-year-old Carl Moore punched the bear right in its snout, sending it running.
“Boom! I hit him good!” Moore said enthusiastically.
Moore isn’t one to know fear, it seems–he’s an ex-Marine, boxer, and has experience bouncing at bars in Texas. He also owns chickens, dozens of which he’s already lost to bears recently.
Looks like he’s had enough of being a victim.
“I ain’t lettin’ no bear eat my puppies! That ain’t gonna happen,” he declared.
