Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was taken to a nearby hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a car crash.
According to Charlotte police, Newton was the driver of the vehicle that flipped three or four times. Thankfully, Newton and the driver of the other vehicle have non-life threatening injuries. ESPN reports that Newton has no fractures or serious injuries, and only some minor scrapes and bruises.
The Panthers released a statement saying Newton will be held overnight for observation but “is in fair condition and undergoing tests at Carolinas Medical Center.”
ESPN’s Ed Werder also reports that, “At this point, it looks like he’s just got scrapes and bruises, but he should be OK. He’s going to be sore and beat up, but he should be relatively OK.”
To escape from a car that flipped three or four times is a true miracle. It really does make you feel grateful for every moment that you are alive. We wish Newton a speedy recovery. The Charlotte Observer tweeted out the following photo of Newton at the crash site:
