Baltimore erupted into riots shortly after Freddie Gray’s funeral. The unarmed black man died on Sunday after he suffered a spinal cord injury while he was in police custody. The police commissioner later held a conference stating “We know that police employees failed to get him medical attention in a timely manner.”

Many people, including a lot of celebrities have taken to social media to express their feelings about the situation. Russell Simmons tweeted “Just came out of meditation + focused all of my energy towards letting the right path be illuminated for the city of Baltimore” Devonte Hynes wrote “No black man has ever been tried by a jury of his peers in America. And if that is so, and I know that is so, no black man has ever received a fair trial in his country. Therefore, I’m under no illusions about the reason why many black people are in prison. – James Baldwin” John Legend posted an article and wrote “Nonviolence as Compliance in Baltimore” Cedric The Entertainer tweeted “Hate to see Baltimore going thru what my hometown of Ferguson went thru. Change is necessary, but violence and destruction is not the answer.” Kelly Rowland tweeted “Praying for Baltimore. #PrayForPeace #DC”
