Russell Wilson is definitely having the best week ever.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback just signed a four-year contract extension with his NFL team. And get this—it’s worth $87.5 million, according to ESPN, making Wilson one of the NFL’s highest paid players.
The 26-year-old has successfully led his beloved team to two consecutive Super Bowls, proving to be a major asset to Seattle. The Seahawk’s first victory in 2013 (43-8 vs. Denver Broncos), marked the football player as the third-youngest quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl title.
“Blessed to be w/ this organization for 4 more years! Can’t wait to get on field w/ the fellas @Seahawks #ChampionMindset #GoHawks,” Wilson wrote on Twitter, confirming the news to his fans.
To top off the amazing news, the athlete’s famous girlfriend, 29-year-old singer, Ciara, took to Twitter to congratulate her man.
“Congratulations Are In Order To My Baby @DangeRussWilson and The Seattle Seahawks!” she tweeted out. “So Exciting! Go Hawks! 3’s Up!”
Wilson gushed to E News about his beautiful girlfriend, “She’s a 15 out of 10 as I always say!”
The extension deal, according to Sports Illustrated, includes a $31 million signing bonus and approximately $60 million in guarantees.
This is a big jump from the $2.99 million contract Wilson signed when the Seahawks chose him as a third-round draft pick in 2012. During his three years with the team, he has reached a record, holding more wins than any other quarterback in the history of the NFL.
