The iconic country legend Merle Haggard passed away today April 6, his 79th birthday. Haggard was battling double pneumonia. He was diagnosed last year and spent 11 days at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage earlier this year.
He passed in his home near Redding, CA. Despite his battle with the disease, he had planned a bunch of concert dates with his long time friend, Willie Nelson. They released an album titled, ‘Django and Jimmie just last year.
But last week, Haggard cancelled the shows due to his condition. Haggard was inducted in Country Music Hall of Hame in 1994.
