Demi Moore is completely horrified.
Upon receiving the terrible news that a 21-year-old man was found dead in her Beverly Hills swimming pool, Moore released a statement to Entertainment Weekly expressing her deepest condolences:
“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news…The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
According to Los Angeles Police Department’s Commander Andrew Smith, there was no foul play involved in the young man’s death, and was therefore deemed a tragic accident. According to his family, Edenilson Steven Valle, as he has been identified, was unable to swim. After he had gone missing for ten to fifteen minutes, his friends discovered him floating and unconscious in the deep end of the pool. Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 5 AM when the 911 call was placed, but after performing CPR, Valle was pronounced dead.
The absurd part about the whole situation remains that Moore was not even at her home during the time of the man’s death as her statement clearly explains. The 911 call came in following a party that was thrown by an unknown suspect. It is certainly a good thing that Moore got her statement out to the public as quickly as she did, otherwise the poor publicity surrounding her name might be beyond overwhelming. Whoever threw the party, however, is going to have some major explaining to do when Moore returns from her vacation, but in the meantime a family will have to mourn the death of their child due to these devastating events.
