Now one fan is claiming that those wild antics caused her neck to be broken.
Three years ago, Brittany Hickman, who says she had never heard of Steve Aoki before going to see him with some coworkers. They took a trip to San Diego and decided to go to a concert at the Hard Rock Hotel called Intervention. In a recent interview, Hickman recounted what she remembered of the day saying “He threw a pool raft into the crowd and climbed up the scaffolding to the top of the make-shift stage and then he jumped off of the stage into the pool raft…I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where i was standing. My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over.” She continued on to say that she didn’t come to until later when security carried her out of the crowd and didn’t realize that she had serious injury until she began to feel severe pain later.
She decided to go to the hospital and get a CAT scan saying “The doctor comes in and he says ‘don’t move.’ The medics come over and start to put a neck brace on me. And I remember thinking what’s going on. And the doctor said you broke your neck…If I would have thrown my arms above my head or reached for something, I could have paralyzed myself.” Hickman says that she was not able to return to work for two months after the injury and has filed a lawsuit against the Hard Rock Hotel and Steve Aoki.
Aoki recently released his new album Neon Future II.
