Will Donald J. Trump ever learn what’s appropriate to say and what’s not? Does he even care? Is he just basking in the attention he’s receiving—even if it’s negative—because he knows deep down that he doesn’t stand a chance against Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton? Well, either way, the Republican presidential candidate is receiving flak for another one of his bizarre comments. This time, the backlash towards Trump comes from Hillary Clinton strategist Joel Benenson after Trump used the split between Clinton aide Huma Abedin, and spouse Anthony Weiner (former congressman) to claim that Clinton lacks good judgement.
“You know, here we’ve got what is a painful private situation for Huma Abedin and her son,” Benenson said during a discussion on CNN’s “New Day.”
“And anybody who’s been through any marital separation knows that is a difficult process in a divorce. Here they’ve got to do it in public and we should leave it private for these folks.”
On Monday, Trump released a statement entitled: “DONALD J. TRUMP STATEMENT ON HILLARY”S BAD JUDGEMENT.” This came after Abedin announced her separation after reports about Weiner sexting alongside their son surfaced. Trump took advantage of the opportunity to question Clinton’s judgement after saying that Abedin is making “a very wise decision,” by separating from Weiner. Trump then went on to speculate about the chance of Weiner leaking top-secret information due to Abedin’s deep-seated professional ties to Clinton.
“Who knows what he learned and who he told? It’s just another example of Hillary Clinton’s bad judgment. It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this,” Trump said in the statement.
What a desperate and cheap shot at Hillary Clinton’s intelligence. Someone should tell Trump that attempting to tarnish the public image of his opponent by using the Weiner’s marital issues as leverage to win more votes only proves to others how insecure and incompetent he is. And, the last thing we need is an insecure, incompetent, belligerent person like Trump running our country. This man clearly thinks everything is about him and is nothing more than a political opportunist who lacks integrity.
Apparently, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Benenson called Trump’s statement: “another one of the outlandish things this man tosses out,” he said. Another “outlandish” statement Benenson’s referring to is a tweet Trump made last weekend in which he suggests that African-American citizens would vote for him after the cousin of NBA star Dwayne Wayne was fatally shot amid crossfire in Chicago.
“This is what he does,” said Benenson. “He thinks everything is about him, his political opportunism.”
Donald J. Trump needs to take a crash course in common sense before he makes anymore public statements. Dear Trump: Please stop polluting our lives with your toxic rants and bothersome stupidity.
