You can say one “good” thing about Donald Trump. He never gives up a fight, and that has been proven multiple times, but most recently in his Twitter outburst against FOX News journalist Megyn Kelly.
The dispute began when Trump disliked Kelly’s questioning at the first presidential debate back on August 6, in which Kelly confronted him about his recent comments about women. Feeling as though he was treated unfairly and irritated by the use of opinions rather than objective questioning, the business mogul took to his Twitter account for revenge:
“@megynkelly must have had a terrible vacation, she is really off her game. Was afraid to confront Dr. Cornel West. No clue on immigration!”
“I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!”
He also retweeted a user that called Kelly a bimbo, which would be the second incident like this.
Though it appeared that Trump and Fox News president Roger Ailes had settled the situation, Ailes released this statement to the public:
“Donald Trump’s surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at FOX News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise…Her questioning of Mr. Trump at the debate was tough but fair, and I fully support her as she continues to ask the probing and challenging questions that all presidential candidates may find difficult to answer. Donald Trump rarely apologizes, although in this case, he should.”
As expected, Trump disagreed and seized the opportunity to slam Kelly some more, as he questioned her level of professionalism and work as a journalist. Though the polls determined that Trump won the debate, it was obviously not enough to muffle the overly opinionated candidate. Whether or not Fox will have Trump back on the air any time soon is a question that can’t currently be answered, but ratings do mean everything, so it won’t be long before we see him again. Ugh.
