The tape seen ’round the world. A few days ago a security tape from the elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City was leaked, showing what seemed to be Jay Z, Beyoncé and her sister Solange (along with a body guard).
A very hostile elevator ride began as Solange seemed to yell in Jay Z’s face. She proceeded to then try to assault him. All blows were caught by Jay before they could touch him, and he moved her away. He never seemed to strike back. The three minute ride, that probably felt like an eternity, has now gone viral.
More than anything, it left the hotel wondering which one of their employees leaked the tape. On Wednesday the hotel made a statement saying that the person had been identified and action had been taken against them. The person was fired for, “breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video.”
It is claimed that the tape was sold for a whopping $250,000 after, “being shopped for five days to the highest bidder.”
The hotel hired Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer to investigate who had leaked the tape. “There are only a handful of people who’d have access to that tape,” a source told. “The Standard owns that tape.” They also added that, “once it was out, Jay Z’s people felt they couldn’t control it. They were reluctant to try and publicly fight this.”
No one knows what started the altercation and neither party has commented on the situation.
