Google have been fined $2.72 billion by the EU for breaking antitrust rules with an online shopping service.
The European Commission alleged that Google elevates its shopping services, despite other options having better deals.
Google put its shopping services first in the search results over other competitors.
“When you shop online, you want to find the products you’re looking for quickly and easily. And advertisers want to promote those same products,” said Kent Walker, senior vice president at Google.
This has been the biggest fine by the EU since 2009, but we feel it will do little damage to Google. Obviously.
