Boxer Floyd Mayweather may still be celebrating his defeat of Manny Pacquaio in what many are still calling one of the most “anticlimactic” fights, but now the boxer is facing new legal trouble. The boxer is being served with a 20 million dollar lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend of 18 years, Josie Harris. Harris is also the mother of Mayweather’s children. According to the lawsuit Harris filed, she is suing the boxer for negligent infliction of emotional distress, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation of character.
Mayweather recently sat down for an interview and stated “Did I kick, stomp and beat someone? No, that didn’t happen…Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.” Harris states that Mayweather lied during the interview and is suing Mayweather for the “humiliation” she felt after she was allegedly deemed a drug addict.
In the suit, Harris also describes an incident that occurred in September of 2010 where Mayweather entered her home in a jealous rage, grabbed Harris by her hair and began to “viciously beat her, punching, striking,, dragging and tossing her around the house, all in front of her frightened children.” Harris alleges that he entered the home and demanded to know who she was dating. After Harris called police, Mayweather left the house only to come back a few hours later and hit Harris in the back of the head with “rabbit punches” he then dragged her around the room by her hair and screamed “I’ll f—ing kill you” as he looked at texts on her phone. Their son Koraun eventually ran and got security. Mayweather would later turn himself into Las Vegas police and was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
