Yet another domestic violence case is popular in the news. Just when you think you’re moving on from the last one, it happens again. Florida State running back Karlos Williams is being investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Miranda Wilhelm, who he lives with. Williams and Wilhelm already have one child together, and Wilhelm is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child.
On Friday night, Wilhelm posted pictures of her bruises that she claims she received recently with the man she bore two children with. Along with the pictures, she posted a paragraph speaking out on domestic violence. In the paragraph, Wilhelm said, “This was done to me 2 nights ago by a man I have lived with for two children and bared two children by. Hopefully therapy will help you one day fix this and your sons never even work their hands to hurt a women, mind you a pregnant women, to this extent.”
Drastic action needs to be taken at a younger age to teach kids that this behavior is completely unacceptable, and there are other ways to deal with anger. Hopefully one day we will return to a society where a domestic violence case like this is rare and shocking to everyone, but it all starts at a very young age, as that is when we are the most impressionable.
Williams is also being investigated for his alleged role in an armed robbery during a drug deal. Florida State plays Louisville on Thursday in a nationally televised game, so it should be interesting to see whether Williams will play or not.
