Could a former Miss Universe be Hillary Clinton’s key to the White House?
As painful as it is to say, Donald Trump has made nothing short of a major comeback, recently, in the 2016 presidential election. Last month, Clinton seemed to have a nearly impossible lead for him to overcome, but Trump has made the race a virtual tie nationally and in key battleground states. However, the good times may not be lasting for Trump.
About 81 million people tuned in to the first presidential debate on Monday night, which Clinton dominated. During the debate, she shocked Trump and the audience by bringing up the story of former Miss Universe Alicia Machado. Clinton said that Trump, allegedly, called her “Miss Piggy,” due to her weight, and “Miss Housekeeping,” due to her being Latina.
Then, on Tuesday, the Clinton campaign unleashed a new ad featuring Machado, where she retold her horrendous experiences with Trump. She explained that due to gaining some weight, Trump humiliated her and forced her to work out on national television.
Now, Machado is continuing to reveal more shocking secrets about her time with Trump, including the racist slurs he, allegedly, made against the African-American community.
“I listened to a few comments from him when he was my boss, but I don’t want to talk about it because it’s too much rude for the black community, and I respect a lot of things,” Machado said in a yet-to-be-aired interview with NBC, according to Daily Mail.
She also took shots at Trump’s wife, Melania, by saying that she needs to do more to help immigrants, rather than “make [her]self rich or more powerful.”
“I think I speak more English than her. I don’t see anything about this girl. She’s a doll. She’s a decoration. That is how I see her,” she also stated.
So why is Machado speaking out about Trump now? She explained that since he treated her “like trash,” she wants to make her voice heard to help prevent him from becoming the next president.
“I never thought, and I never imagined then 20 years later, I’ll be in this position … watching this guy again doing stupid things and stupid comments and … so machista,” she said.
She continued, “I’m not beauty queen, I’m not Miss Universe anymore, I’m a worker, I’m a mother … I have a family, I have a career, I have a business and, you know, if my story can open eyes for this election that is what I’m trying to do.”
As we have seen in his countless controversies before, Machado will not negatively affect Trump with his core group of supporters. Hopefully, she will help those Independents and undecided voters to see why Trump is unfit to be president.
