George Zimmerman got into an altercation in a Florida restaurant after bragging about killing Trayvon Martin.
The incident started when Zimmerman approached a man and complimented him on his confederate flag tattoo. The man did not immediately recognize Zimmerman who then announced himself to the restaurant as being the man who shot Trayvon Martin in 2012.
The man who punched Zimmerman then said “You’re bragging about that?” as he approached Zimmerman’s group and then a shoving match ensued. One of Zimmerman’s group allegedly pulled out a cell phone to record the conversation. The phone was slapped from his hand and broken. Zimmerman was punched in the face and had his glasses broken.
The alleged puncher then fled the restaurant on a blue Harley Davidson.
Zimmerman told the Orlando Sentinel that the man, who identified himself only as “Eddie,” thought that Zimmerman was Mathew Apperson. Apperson is the man who was accused of shooting Zimmerman in a road rage incident last year.
Zimmerman called 911 saying that the man was threatening to kill him.
Since his 2013 acquittal of shooting 17 year-old Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman has had several run-ins with the law including a domestic violence report when he allegedly threw wine bottles at his girlfriend during an argument. He recently auctioned off the 9mm handgun he used to kill the unarmed Martin. The gun was auctioned for $250,000.
No arrests were made in the incident and police are actively looking for the Harley driving man named “Eddie.”
