Some UK fans are less than thrilled about Kanye West being slated as headliner for Glastonbury Festival, a popular music event overseas.
The petition, created on Change.org, is titled “Cancel Kanye West’s headline slot and get a rock band,” which speaks for itself.
Fans aren’t holding back on Twitter either, expressing their disapproval. One fan said, “If Kanye West is headlining glastonbury I’m sending my ticket back. What a shocking idea. He doesn’t belong anywhere near it.” Some also labeled it “bandwagon booking.”
So far, more than 48,000 have signed the petition. The description reads:
Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.
Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!
Supporters are even signing from all over the world.
One New Yorker wrote this in the comment section: “Kanye sucks. I want to see real artistry. Someone like Beck.”
Points for cleverness, my friend.
Other than West, only Lionel Richie and the Foo Fights have been confirmed to perform at the festival so far; the full lineup will be available in the spring.
Glastonbury, held from June 24-28, attracts an average of 135,000 attendees.
