I woke up this morning and I’m surprised to see the Grammy’s are still trending in hot entertainment stories. The Grammy’s was 3 days ago! But its the amazing performances, the celebrity selfies and yes, the award winnings that have people talking – still!

First off, the 58th Grammy celebration was filled with groundbreaking performances. Everyone knows Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Stevie Wonder, and Taylor Swift (among many others) were all given standing ovations for their performances. Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly won Best Rap Album of the year and the rapper performed three renditions of songs from the album on the main stage. Ultimately Kendrick took home 5 Grammys as well as a big fist bump from other celebs who said he should have beaten Taylor.

I hate to even mention it, but people are still in disbelief that Justin Bieber performed his single “Where are U Now” and won his first Grammy for Best Dance Recording hit. But no one really cares. I’ve heard louder rumblings about Lady Gaga’s dazzling outfits and performance that paid tribute to the late David Bowie. The Fame Monster gave us all what we were expecting–an unforgettable multimedia performance that was as beautiful as it was strange. Her wardrobe included the alien-goddess-esque gown that she walked the carpet with and a number of Bowie-style costumes for her tribute.

Adele, who wasn’t nominated for any awards (shut up!!), gave a no less-than-spectacular rendition of her piano accompanied song, “All I Ask.” People are still talking about the sound mixing during her performance which was terribly off. The volume on her mic dropped to near silence at one point and the performance itself was a disappointment for fans who remembered when she first sang at the Grammys in 2012. You think maybe it might have been done on purpose to take some of the sizzle OFF of Adele? Hmmmmm…??? Still the singer enthusiastically cheered for Kendrick and the other performers after they took the stage.

People are still talking about how The Weeknd ripped “Can’t Feel My Face” and “In the Night” on the main stage. He sounded wonderful and won big, taking home the Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album for “Beauty Behind the Madness” and best R&B Performance for “Earned it.”

In heartfelt remembrance, people are still talking about Stevie Wonder and the acapella group Pentatonix’s stunning tribute performance to Maurice White of Earth, White and Fire. White died earlier this month and is remembered as one of the founding fathers of Soul-Funk music. The 2016 rendition of “That’s the way of the World,” was beautifully arranged and will not be forgotten.

The night closed with an interesting medley headlined by Pitbull. Most people are talking about how borderline crappy it was. The performance began with a version of “El Taxi,” that included Sofia Vergara dancing on stage dressed in a ridiculous taxi costume and ended with Mr. Worldwide’s new single “Bad Man,” a performance that The Rolling Stones referred to as “charmless.”

Ultimately, this year’s Grammys had it’s high and low points. The live performances were nothing but engaging and still the subject of water cooler talk at the office. Something NO one is talking about – Jimmy Carter won for Best Spoken Album for his autobiography. What-da-deal? Jimmy is awesome! Congrats! Maybe he should have mixed in a little Kendrick Lemar – DOPE!
