NBA player, Greg Oden was arrested this morning. He is accused of punching his ex-girlfriend. According to a Lawrence Police Department report, the incident occurred around 3:30 am.
A witness, described as the victim’s best friend, told the authorities that Oden punched the woman in the face. When the officers arrived at the residence, they found the alleged victim crying and holding her. The victim’s best friend told the woman, “There isn’t that much love in the world. You need to tell that he punched you in the face.”
According to the report there was blood on the sofa and floor, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area of the victim’s face.
Oden was cooperative when the police questioned him. He stated “I was wrong, and I know what has to happen.”
Oden told police he dated the victim for approximately two years but broke up two months ago.
A Marion County Jail van drove Oden to the processing center, where his initial hearing will occur sometime today. He faces a preliminary charge of battery.
