On Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors became NBA champions. If that wasn’t already awesome for the team, here’s another fun tidbit. This team hasn’t won the NBA finals since 1975. It’s been 40 years since the Warriors were champions, so this year’s team is pretty stellar.
The Warriors were victorious against the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning in a 105-97 game. No doubt, this win was thanks to players like Andre Iguodala, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green. Even if you’re not into basketball, you may have noticed these guys are becoming stars both on and off the court.
Even though LeBron James led the way for the Cavaliers (including when they forged ahead in the third quarter), it was obvious from the beginning that the Warriors had this game in the bag. Reportedly, they had excellent and constant defense switches, and they used those long, basketball-playing arms to their advantage. In the end, Curry had 25 points, six rebounds, and eight assists under his belt. Green scored 16 points by himself, making it a hugely successful game for the Warriors. If they’re doing anything this week, it’s living up to that team name.
Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors and all of their fans on such an awesome victory!
