Halle Berry may have it all; looks, talent, and a successful career, but that wasn’t enough to get her out of paying an incredibly large amount of money to her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.
Berry and Aubry, a Canadian model, have been battling it out in court for a year, to settle child support payments for their six-year-old daughter, Nahla.
Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon finally reached a verdict and ordered Berry to pay $16,000 a month, that’s nearly $200,000 a year, until Nahla turns 19.
The 47-year-old actress is also responsible for paying $30,000 a year for Nahla’s school tuition. Aubry, 38, and Berry will split the health care expenses. The Oscar-winning actress is also expected to pay Aubry a retroactive payment of $115,000 and $300,000 to his attorneys in order to cover the cost of the custody battle.
Berry dated Aubry for two years and gave birth to Nahla in 2008. She then met and fell in love with French actor, Olivier Martinez, on the set of their movie Dark Tide. They married in 2013 and have an eight-year-old son named, Maceo.
While $16,000 is a lot of money for one person to pay on a monthly basis, Berry is most likely the breadwinner between the two parents. She will be starring in a new sci-fi TV series called, Extant. In the hour long show, Berry plays Molly, an astronaut who goes on a solo mission in space for a year and she returns pregnant. Drama ensues as she tries to figure out the mystery before the government does. Steven Spielberg is the executive producer and the series will air on CBS, July 9.
So don’t feel too bad for Mrs. Berry. She has a new job, a new husband, and two beautiful children. Hopefully, everything works out for the best.
