Rumors have been swirling since last year about several actors/comedians portraying the late comic, Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic.
Nick Cannon is the latest celebrity rumored to play him. After a side-by-side photo of Pryor and Cannon was uploaded to his Instagram, everyone began speculating over the uncanny resemblance.
Cannon wrote a caption under the photo, saying:
“Picking up smoking cigarettes for the next few months so forgive me if I smell like an ashtray. #KidsDontTryThis #CancerSticksSuck #AnythingForTheCraft #HopeIDontGetAddicted”
He also added:
“#TBT I’m feeling his spirit. I hope y’all ready for the next level in my career. #GameChanger #Pryor”
However, some people seem to be against Cannon being a possible candidate for the film. Pryor’s widow, Jennifer, said that Cannon was too quick to assume he was picked for the role and claimed that Lee Daniels, the director of the film, is still auditioning actors for the lead. She even mentioned that she prefers Terrence Howard to play the part over Cannon.
Pryor’s children were hoping that Marlon Wayans, who was rumored to be playing the comedian last year, would snag the role. Mike Epps was also thrown in the mix as someone who would portray Pryor.
Who do you think should play the late great comedian in the upcoming biopic?
