Recently in fashion news we all have heard about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy’s collaboration line Ivy Park with Sir Philip Green that was supposedly made to “empower women  allegedly has been manufactured in sweat shops in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a tiny island nation in the Indian Ocean, is a rugged land of rainforest, and endless beaches, but a business venture mind field in mass production. A British newspaper claims the athletic line is made  in the MAS Holding factories of Sri Lanka where the seamstress complain about the poor working conditions and make reportedly £4-£6 a day. Ivy Park released to The Sun newspaper in a statement: “Ivy Park has a rigorous ethical trading program. We are proud of our sustained efforts in terms of factory inspections and audits, and our teams worldwide work very closely with our suppliers and their factories to ensure compliance.”

To make things worst, most female workers earn 4.30 pounds a day, or reportedly $6.17, and would never be able to afford Ivy Park leggings, which can cost 100 pounds, or $144. But the minimum daily wage in Sri Lanka is 400 rupees, or $2.68. I guess they are trying to say Beyonce’ is paying them better because Ivy Park workers are earning more than twice the minimum wage for a day’s work.

Ivy Park is one of TopShops premiere clients and is already tweeting on Twitter to shop #IvyPark to fend of sweatshop claims. The problem seems to stem from the public a now view of what Beyonce and Ivy Parks motto of “Female Empowerment” and the seem stresses who are remaining nameless who feel like those dreams are for woman not like them. A fairytale. So for her “girls run the world” theory is it really so? These females in this part of Asia are pawns in the big scheme of the fashion world.

Topshop is a British multinational fashion retailer of clothing, shoes, make-up and accessories. It has around 500 shops worldwide. Wikipedia With Ivy Park being sure that their factories are meeting satisfactory working conditions, I’m guessing as much as you can fathom for Asia to work in, they are also sure that the factories  will meet their deadlines and quota.  I mean of course they will she is Queen Bey after all. I myself was and probably still am going to order some, but I think this will cause Beyonce’ to try and save her rep at least by giving up a little more to the females workers who make her line. They are comparing her to Donald Trump wife and daughter that’s whoa!
