Kanye West decided to do a pop-up performance in New York City last night and it was immediately shut down by officers for being a safety hazard.
It was held at Webster Hall , which holds up to 1,500 people. A whopping 4,000 people came out to see West at the popular venue and waited in the streets, the sidewalks, on stoops, balconies, and even on Postal Service trucks.
Hundreds of fans gathered around West’s car when he finally showed up, all reaching for handshakes, and taking pictures, but then drove off. West was set to perform earlier on Sunday at the Governors Ball, but was cancelled due to severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon. Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2016 was also affected by the weather and Chance the Rapper and Dave East were cancelled from the lineup. The concert also started hours later, but West performed and it was an overall good show.
At 2:45 a.m., officers started clearing the streets and were telling everyone to leave the premises. The crowd left dents on mail trucks, dumpsters, and parked cars, from sitting on them. The cancellation of the performance almost caused a near riot in the streets, but everything was taken care of.
