Kanye West is known for going on long rants about anything he can possibly think of. However, some fans believe that a concert venue is not one of the places to do it.
At London’s Wireless Festival on Friday, West was a fill-in for Drake, and performed a number of hits. During his song “Runaway,” he stopped midway and began making a 15-minute speech, blasting Louis Vuitton and Nike for discrimination.
“I’m not going to diss Nike or anything, but don’t discriminate against me. They tell me, ‘Sit in the front row. Wear this jacket I made for you and do as you’re told.'”
Wearing a black, studded mask covering his face, he also added:
“I’m not dissing Louis Vuitton, I’m not dissing the Gucci group, I’m just saying, don’t discriminate against me because I’m a black man, or because I’m a celebrity, to determine that I can’t create…no black guy or celebrity is making no Louis Vuitton nothing. That’s why I wear this mask. F*** my face!”
As the passionate rapper continued to rant, the crowd began to boo, and some concert goers even walked out.
Some fans took to Twitter to express their outrage.
One tweeted, “Serious booing during Kanye’s obligatory 15 minute Runaway rant at Wireless. Just get the f*** on with it mate.”
Another added, “There is a time and a place to get on your soapbox @kanyewest and #wireless is not the place.”
