LeBron James’s contract with the Cavaliers is now official. The terms and conditions in James’s contract will allow him to become a free agent for the 2015 season if the star chooses.
The two – year, $42.1 million contract allows James the option to leave after the 2015 season. However, other sources tell ESPN that he will most likely want to stay longer.
“I always believed that I’d return to Cleveland and finish my career there,” James wrote in his essay on SI.com announcing his decision to return to the Cavaliers after four seasons with the Miami Heat.
Even though James is respected as the best basketball star in the world, his new contract doesn’t make him the highest paid player in the NBA. Kobe Bryant, guard for Los Angeles Lakers, took in $30.4 million in salary last year making him the highest paid basketball star.
While many are happy for James and angered too, the four – time NBA MVP has made about $129 million over his career. WOW!
