Brian Williams might still be employed at NBC, but Lester Holt will permanently take over his position as the anchor of NBC Nightly News. Previously, Holt was the interim anchor after Williams was suspended.
Holt has been in television as an anchor for over thirty years, and he’s been with NBC for fifteen of those years. In the past, he has been the fact of Weekend Nightly News, Dateline, and Weekend TODAY. Andrew Lack, Chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, believes that Holt is well suited for this task and commends his “outstanding work for NBC.”
When asked to comment, Holt himself declares that this position is “an enormous honor.” He has nothing but “respect and admiration” for the Nightly News team, and he looks forward to working with them in his coming time on the show.
We wish Holt and NBC the best of luck in the future of Nightly News.
