Chester Bennington of the band Linkin Park died on Thursday in Los Angeles after an apparent suicide by hanging.
Authorities were called to the 41 year old’s home shortly after 9am.
The chief of operations for the LA County coroner’s officer, Brian Elias, confirmed the death, in Palos Verdes Estates.
In May, his good friend Chris Cornell committed suicide. Bennington shared a note on social media after the death. “I can’t imagine a world without you in it,” he said. “I pray you find peace in the next life.”
Bennington performed Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ at his funeral.
Linkin Park recently released new music, with their new album that was released in May, hitting number one on the Billboard top album chart. They were set to tour on July 27 in Mansfield, Mass.
The band are set to release a statement about the rock star’s death.
