Pop artist, Macklemore collaborates again with Ryan Lewis, and takes on one of the most pressing issues in the media today, that being white privilege.
No, seriously the song is called ‘White Privilege II,’ and allegedly disses Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea.
He raps, “You’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea. Fake and so plastic, you’ve heisted the magic. You’ve taken the drums and the accent you rapped in.”
Whoa! Some fighting words there by the ‘Thrift Shop’ singer. But, it didn’t take long for Azalea to respond. She said, “He shouldn’t have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings.” Clearly, this was a shock to her, and an unexpected single for him to put out.
The song is rather lengthy, that is it runs about 9 minutes long. Undoubtably, Macklemore wanted to send a message out about racial inequality, and show his listeners that he’s a supporter of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
The song will be featured on Macklemore’s new album This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, which is rumored to come out on Feb 26.
