After Donald Trump declared that he was running for President and made his first speech, the man’s career has been swiftly declining.
Of course, there is good reason for the decline, but it is truly remarkable how quickly the public has responded to Trump’s problematic first speech.
In this particular case, over 700,000 people signed a petition on MoveOn.org that asked Macy’s to cut all of its ties to the Republican candidate.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the retail company announced that, “In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.”
In case you’re not caught up on Trump’s latest scandal, he made some awful remarks which implied that immigrants from Mexico were all criminals, drug lords, or rapists.
Macy’s claims that it is “disappointed and distressed” by Trumps remarks, explaining that the company will not stand for discrimination and that it “stands for diversity.”
Trump’s incredibly offensive speech led NBC to sever its ties with him as well. This means that Trump will no longer be on The Celebrity Apprentice and that the Miss USA pageant will not be broadcasted.
