President Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia Obama, graduates from Sidwell Friends High School in Washington D.C. today. The 17-year-old will take a year off and will attend Harvard University in 2017.
The graduation was a private family affair and the press was not allowed to take pictures. Neither Obama and First Lady wanted to make a speech during the graduation as well. It was all about Malia Obama today, and not being “the President’s daughter.”
Last week, Obama made a speech and told the audience, “My daughter leaving me is just breaking my heart. If there are any parents here, I hope you can give me some pointers on how not to cry too much at the ceremony and embarrass her.”
Today is also Sasha Obama’s 15th birthday, so the First Family has a lot of reasons to celebrate today.
