James Nemeth, 39, was sentenced on Thursday to 29 years and 8 months in prison for shaking and killing toddler, Louis Oliver back in San Diego, California, on May 23, 2012. Nemeth was a daycare worker in charge of 11-month-old, who suffered head spine trauma.
The toddler’s mother, Cristina Oliver, received a phone call that day from Nemeth, saying that her son was not waking up from his nap. The toddler later died that night.
He pleaded guilty to seven felony counts, including corporal injury to a child, and child abuse. Nemeth also admitted to abusing, hitting, and choking his own children. He also had a long list of violations and must server 85 percent of his sentence before he can get parole.
On Thursday, the mother read her statement, “You assaulted and shook my son to death. I’m fairly confident Louis wasn’t the first baby you shook. These innocent babies and toddlers left in your care have silent voices who are too young to cry out for help. You are evil.”
