The family of Michael Brown is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Ferguson.
In a statement provided by the lawyers they expect to file the lawsuit later on today. The lawsuit would also mention Darren Wilson, the officer who fatally shot Brown. The shooting sparked the”Black Lives Matter” movement calling for changes in how police deal with minorities.
In November of last year, The St. Louis County grand jury and the U.S. Justice Department declined to prosecute Wilson, who resigned in November. But the Justice Department last month released a scathing report citing racial bias and profiling in the Ferguson Police Department and a profit-driven municipal court system that frequently targets black residents.
Some city officials including city manager, police chief and judges resigned over the shooting.
