Multiple one million dollar bets on Floyd Mayweather rolled in on Thursday in Las Vegas, causing a stir for the undefeated boxer ahead of his fight with UFC star Conor McGregor.
The fight between Mayweather and McGregor will take place on Saturday.
ESPN has reported that the MGM sportsbook took a $1 million bet on Mayweather at -550 odds from a VIP casino guest.
The guest wired in the money to the casino cage ahead of the fight, MGM vice president of race and sports Jay Rood told the network.
If Mayweather wins, the bet would net a little under $182,000.
Not long after, a bet that would net $240,000 was paid by cash. The customer bet a whopping $1.2 million on Mayweather at -500 odds. This was reported by William Hill’s Nevada sportsbook.
These bets are the largest that have been made on the fight so far. On Thursday, Mayweather’s odds went back up to -600 at multiple books, after dipping below -500 the week before.
MGM and William Hill also reported taking two $300,000 bets earlier on Thursday. The South Point sportsbook reported taking in a $50,000 bet on Conor McGregor at +450. This bet would net $225,000.
Either way, the fight on Saturday is expected to be the most heavily bet boxing match ever. The fight could be seen by 50 million Americans, as it is expected to sell 5 million buys at $99.95 each.
This means that in a single night, $1 billion could be made.
