More news has come to light regarding the death of actor Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter, Edena Hines.
It was reported that a 30-year-old man was responsible for stabbing Hines in the chest 16 times before she was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead soon after. However, it was not initially reported that the man was Hines’ boyfriend, Lamar Davenport.
Even more absurd and frightening is the fact that he stood over her body apparently screaming verses from the bible and chanting as though he was performing an exorcism on her. According to an onlooker by the name of George Hudacko, Davenport kept repeating, “Get out devils! I cast you out devils in the name of Jesus Christ! I cast you out!” as reported by The Daily Beast.
After his arrest, Davenport was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center to undergo psychological testing. He has been charged with second degree murder.
Ray Rosario, who has been identified as a close friend of Davenport’s doesn’t understand the murder. Rosario claims that Hines and Davenport happily went out that night, describing them as “ecstatic.” He also told The Daily Beast, “I’m caught between the hate I have for him, my love for him being my brother, and my heart breaking for her.”
The investigation regarding Davenport’s mental condition is still underway.
