Actor Morgan Freeman is mourning the loss of his step-granddaughter after she was stabbed to death early Sunday morning, and took to his Facebook page to thank loyal fans for their support.
Freeman wrote: “I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
33-year-old Edena Hines was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, to clear up any confusion regarding their relation. She was apparently a very talented young woman as Freeman told Gossip Cop, and was studying to become an actress.
He lamented that the world would never know what a wonderful talent she really was, but reveled in the fact that her family and friends would always remember her for it.
Hines was tragically found lying outside of her New York City apartment on West 162nd street with multiple stab wounds to her chest. Just shortly after 3 AM, police arrived at the scene and Hines was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after.
The suspect of the stabbing is said to be a 30-year-old man, whose name has not been revealed, but has been arrested since the incident. However, the cause of his attack is unknown and still being thoroughly investigated.
Hopefully, the investigation will be quickly laid to rest so Freeman and his family can mourn peacefully, but a tragedy of this magnitude is difficult to even comprehend. Our prayers go out to Morgan Freeman and the loved ones of this young woman who had a promising future ahead.
