After 26.6 miles Wilson Kipsang crossed the finish line of the New York City Marathon as the winner of the men’s race.
This was Wilson’s New York City Marathon debut. At the very end of the men’s race, Wilson bolted ahead of Lelisa Desisa.
The Kenyan runner ran the marathon throughout New York City’s five boroughs in 2 hours, 10 minutes and 59 seconds.
It was a close race for Wilson up until the very end. As he finished the marathon in New York’s Central Park, he caught another wind and raced ahead of the pack for the win. Second place winner Lelisa finished close behind him with a time of 2 hours, 11 minutes and 6 seconds.
This may have been slowest marathon since 1984 due to wind but, all the runners stuck through and finished.
Congratulations to Wilson Kipsang on his win today !
