Following the tragedy of the brutal murder of two NYPD officers, the New York Yankees will play for the education of Officer Rafael Ramos’s two children as the New York Daily News reports.

Former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner who died in 2010 had started the Yankee Shield Foundation, which for 32 years has been providing for the education of children whose parents were killed in the line of duty in the tri-state area.

The New York Daily News also reports that Officer Ramos had two sons, one 13-year-old and one currently in college, both of whom will not have to worry about college costs anymore.

Nothing can be done to reverse the horrible events that have occurred, but at least the Yankee Shield Foundation can help bring some relief to the victims’ families.
