NHL star Patrick Kane is not being charged following a three-month investigation into claims he raped a 21-year-old woman at his New York home, announced on Thursday.
Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III claimed that no physical or forensic evidence backs up the woman’s allegations.
In addition, Sedita stated that there were inconsistencies between her accounts and those of eyewitnesses, according to CNN.
Frank A. Sedita III said in a statement:
“The totality of the credible evidence — the proof — does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant’s allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane. This so-called ‘case’ is rife with reasonable doubt.”
The NHL stars agent, Pat Brisson, stated:
“We knew all along that Patrick didn’t do anything wrong.”
Kane, a standout right winger for the Chicago Blackhawks, added that he is “glad that the matter has now been closed.”
“I have repeatedly said that I did nothing wrong,” said Kane.
